About BWA. Drafting & Design Services by Ian MacCoy

Philosophy

Architecture is the built environment that makes up our homes, workplaces, and communities around us. A good design can positively influence the life experience of the people that inhabit those homes, buildings, and communities. It is my goal to create designs that meet the needs of the people I am designing for, as well as be environmentally and socially responsible at the same time.

Area of Specialization

Architectural drafting, Technical illustration, and Presentation imaging.

Type of Drafting

My designs range from small cabins of approximately 48sf, to large mixed use buildings that are over 100,000sf with multiple floors and underground parking.

Experience

I currently work as a low voltage electrician installing and servicing a variety of custom home applications.
Additionally I am contracted to do CAD work for companies in Washington State, USA.
I do CAD modification for a company in Snohomish WA, that specializes in telecommunications infrastructure as well as doing conceptual designs for a land development company in Millcreek WA.

Education

LWTC - AAS Architecture Graphics (129 credits with a GPA 3.73) 01-2009 to 03-2010
The Architecture Graphics program provided me with a study of building materials, building techniques, and legal documentation as it pertains to architecture.
I have practiced genial organization skills, time management and a variety of presentation techniques.
Using REVIT software I can take rough sketches or ideas, and convert them into documents that show details and specifications required for construction or presentation.

Related Skills

In my studies I have done design work, put together construction documentation that include not just blue prints, but also window and door schedules, materials list, construction costs, and timeline estimates.

Computer and Technology Knowledge and Goals

I use Revit Architecture for most of my drafting and feel fairly confident with my production skills.
I have used Auto CAD, Studio Max and REVIT MEP in conjunction with REVIT Architecture at one time or another.
I am interested in expanding my skill sets to incorporate other software platforms I can use in production. Software such as Navisworks, Sketch Up, Photo Shop, Studio Max, Solidworks, and other versions of REVIT.
I have experience with the office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
I can setup simple networks with security passwords, DHCP limits and assign Static IP adresses.

Corporate Goal

It is my hope to find a position where I can use my production skills to be a contributing part of a team, while learning new skills and building a career.
I want to be part of a company that is aware of the global condition and takes responsibility to produce an environmentally and socially responsible product.

Contractual Goal

Using REVIT I feel like I can draw just about anything. I would like to be the hands for an architect or designer that has not yet adapted to using software to create construction documentation.
You give me your hand drawings with details such wall thicknesses and materials being used and I will turn them into the necessary sheets for construction or presentation.
I hope to bring you an increased ability to create construction documentation while I am able to obtain life experience in the business of Architecture and design.
